White Lego.....

Check out this fabulous art installation called 'White Lego' that has just visited Mackay. We weren't too sure what to expect, I thought it would be things made out of lego that you could only look at but the lady came in and explained that when it arrives every piece is single and tipped onto the long tables. As people visit and make things it is pushed to the back and that just keeps happening for about 3 weeks and you end up with this fantastic art piece made by your local community. The white is symbolic for the artist as he was raised in Iceland. It was awesome and the lady invited us in on the Sunday to help smash it up - Ned really wanted to do that but unfortunately we had other plans.

It's beginning to look alot like Xmas......

I love Xmas trees and decorations and this year we have a nice new tree. Our last tree lasted for about 11 years and we got off the side of the road in a council rubbish pickup in Darwin!!! I bought a big tree cause that means I can buy more decorations!!!

Wheres Jarrah???

I've had a lot of people commenting that theres not much news of Jar on our blog lately - well thats because she's 15, never home and refuses to let me take photos of her anymore!!! I pinched the memory card out of her camera and it looks like she has no problems posing for her friends though................

Prep Graduation

Ned graduated from Prep on Friday - we can't believe how quickly the year went - it seems like a week ago that I went through all that anxiety about him starting and here we are finishing!!! He had a great year with a lovely teacher and classmates and his first 'taste' of school life has been a positive and fun experience.

Fitzgerald School Spectacular

Ned was involved in the 2008 Fitzgerald School Spectacular which his school has been running for 25 years. It was fantastic seeing all these little people dressed up singing and dancing. Ned sang and danced to 3 Abba songs - I will upload a movie of his performance when I get it.

School Photo's

Just a few pics of Ned's year at Prep - his teacher did up a memory stick of photo's from throughout the year so I just thought I'd share a couple of cute ones......

Conversation with Ned llll

Yesterday arvo Jar took Ned to the beach to meet a boy (just a friend) and when they got back this was the conversation

Me – What was Jar’s friend like?
Ned – Nice
Me – Did you talk to him?
Ned – Yeah a bit
Me – Was there any kissing? (I was joking.... sorta!)
Ned – Muuuuummmmm (yelling & starting to cry)
Me – Not you and Adrian, I meant Jarrah and Adrian..........
Ned – Oh, nah they didn’t.................

I cracked up.

Jar turns 15 !!

Jarrah is 15 - the first birthday that has rattled me a little - 15 !!! I can't believe we have been together 15 years, it goes so so quickly. It doesn't feel like it at the time ( when they are driving you insane !!) but now looking back it's flown by. She had a great birthday, we went out to lunch with Jo and Jar's friend Leticia, then a bit of a shopping spree, then she partayed all night with her friends.

Jar having her annual pavlova. Ned arranged that Jar had to sit on a bean bag in the middle and the rest of us had to hold hands dancing around her singing Happy Birthday!!! She was not that impressed!!!
Out to lunch....

Ned is 6 !!

Ned turned 6 on the 26th Sept & had a fantastic day, he did the pressie thing, had a beautiful cake at school with his friends, had birthday privalages at school (not exactly sure what that means but he was mega excited !!), more cake in the arvo with Nan & Pop and Aunty Joey then finished off with a few mates at our new water park.

With 2 of his most favourite pressies.

Having the cake at home

Playing in the rock pool at our new water park, it's called 'the lagoon' and has just opened a few weeks ago and it's fantastic, I can see us spending many a weekend there especially now it's hot and the stingers are back!!!

Monster House

Al is painting this massive house at the moment - it's 700 square metres under roof, which is equivilent of three & a half 3 bedroom homes!!! Nice to have money hey! He is also doing some commercial work in town and is starting at 3.30am to get it done - we are just so busy painting at the moment, so much insurance work from the flood as well as Mackay's Boom 2 (as it is called here) , the city is growing so quickly. Best of all - we are getting Myers!!!! Yay!!!!!
This photo is taken in the lounge which is about the size of our whole house!!!

R.A.K (random act of kindness)

Last Saturday when we were doing our shopping at Woolies Ned was being super good and cute. He saw this bubble blower that was in the shape of a sword which he really wanted and when I
said no he was disappointed but fine about it and we kept doing our shopping with him chatting to me the whole way around.
When we lined up to pay, a lady came up to us and said "this might be a bit weird but I was following you and your little boy up the aisles and he is such a beautiful little soul and he was so good when you said no to the bubble blower that I would like to give him $5 to buy it".
Ned was soo happy and kept saying on the way home "that lady gave me the money cause she thinks I'm great, hey Mum". She isn't the only one sweet boy.........

Jed's new Threads

Jed is 11 now & it's starting to show. She has a few ailments including constant itching, arthiritis and a really bad smell !!! She needs to be warm all the time at the moment or she stiffens up so I got her this coat that she loves. I wanted to adjust it last night but she kept pushing my hand away in case I took it off !! Al's not real impressed - I heard him tell her to get out the back before someone saw her!!!! At least it's a drizabone - perfect for a working dog but I'm not sure what they thought she would use the pockets for!!!

Ned's Makeover

Ned has been sleeping with us for quite a few years now. Instead of doing controlled crying we bought a king size bed and after we got sick of him kicking us all night, he was on a camp bed in our room. Well it was time for a change so we pumped him up with a room makeover and it worked!!! He has stayed the whole night in his bed for a week now. Ahhh bliss!!!

Before the makeover - I knew we were painting so I kept the door shut & let Ned do what he wanted in there.
I chose the colour 'Daiquiri Ice' & had a few doubting thomas's to how it was going to turn out but it looks bright & happy & light.

I'm sick of blu tack so Al put some screws in and we suspended picture framing wire to hang bits and pieces on with clips.
