Urban Farming

Our backyard is fast becoming a little urban farm.  It's our third year of having a vege patch which have always produced plenty for us and stacks to give away. We also have black sapote (choc pudding fruit), avocado's, mango, custard apples and mulberry tree's - some of these are in neighbours yards and grow over onto our side but we can still pick a decent amount off them. This year we are growing three types of spuds, tomato's (grosse lisse) and some random ones that have popped up, zucchini, capsicum, sweet pea's, white dwarf beans, garlic, lettuce and I have another bed to fill yet !!
We also have our gorgeous girls who have laid everyday without fail.  We have had approx 810 eggs from them since we got them - that's 67.5 dozen !!!!  I have also been reading up on bee keeping and think Ned's old fort is a perfect spot for a couple of hives though I have a fair bit of convincing to do before that's going to happen!!

bowl-o-rama

Cold, windy and raining day meant all plans went out the window and we went bowling instead - fun!!!

winter sewing

A little bit of sewing happening - two new blankets for Jed backed with an old blanket of ours and some flannelette PJ's for Ned with a matching stencilled shirt.

mumma's day

I came home, rather late from a party (eeep) the night before mothers day and found a note stuck to my light switch that said 'please slide under door when done'.  It was a breakfast menu and i got to choose whatever I wanted - so cute - and sure enough I woke to two beautiful faces and brekkie on my bedside table!
I also got a couple of homemade cards and some really sweet handmade gifts from the school's mothers day stall.

Then off to mum and dad's for a beautiful lunch of fresh fish cooked by dad and the yummiest salads made by jo !

Camping

We went camping for the May Day long weekend and took Riley with us this time - smart move because instead of flying kites, making forts and playing t ball we were able to relax while the boys played from morning to night.

Jar and Jakes Journey !!!

Jar and Jake went to Brissy for Jake's grandparents 50th wedding anniversary then off to the Goldy for a little holiday - here's some pics she texted through.....

If I saw these two I'd hand them in for sure !!!!

anzac

We always attend the Anzac day parade but this year Ned and I decided to do the dawn service again.  It was beautiful and the last post is always so moving.
By 6.30am we were home tucked up in bed with Ned telling me all the things he's been learning about the Anzacs - he's a wealth of knowledge when it comes to that stuff !!

bedtime ritual

our new bedtime ritual - a game of backgammon every night before bed

Visitors

My Aunt and Uncle came up for a holiday so we all went up to Shoal Point for a bbq.
It was such a perfect day for it.
ned and i stopped in at the nursery on the way home - not buying just spending an hour or so checking out all the weird and wonderful plants they have.

beach, collecting and craft

We have been spending so much time on the beach lately just wandering and exploring and this day collecting for an art project....

our take on rock art !!!
adding to my heart rock collection - i have plans for these when i have enough..

and slowly filling my jar of sea glass - so much being washed up lately !

New beginnings and Goodbyes....

Al has started a new job (we still have Allstar - for now!) that requires him to work away from home so we went out for tea to celebrate on his last night home.  Jar also left the same day for a trip to Brissy and Gold Coast with Jake - lucky duck !!
Playing hangman while waiting for our food...
