School Reports.....

I wasn't sure if I should be one of 'those' mothers & do this post but I can't help myself & I am so proud of Ned and the way he makes the right choices. I'm not the only one.............
Mrs K (his teacher) agrees & I quote;
"Ned is a very happy , confidant and thoughtful child who always considers how he should be behaving and treating others. Its such a pleasure to watch Ned in group times, because he can ignore inappropriate behaviours (which may look fun) and continue following the 5 L's of listening. Ned always shows a caring attitude towards his class peers and bringing a smile to our faces is something very easy to do!!!!

Jar also got a great report card, good marks for work, effort and attitude as well as most of the teachers commenting on how friendly & polite she is. Unfortunately she got an E in physical education - she takes after me in that way!!!!!

It's always nice to hear from a third party that your kids are great and it makes up for those days that suck!!!!!

Esperanza

Dad, Ned & I went onboard the Esperanza, a Greenpeace icebreaker that has come through Mackay as part of their Energy Revolution Tour and also to protest the shale oil scheme that is being planned for Airlie / Proserpine. It was fantastic, really interesting & thought provoking and of course Ned loved it cause it was just a big boat!!!
Ned designing a paper bag that will hold a candle at the protest in Cairns.....

Pop & Ned on a dingy - one that has chased the Japanese whalers!!!

Gold Coast Trip

We went to the Gold Coast to catch up with Sandra, John & the kids again this year but unfortunately we didn't get the perfect weather we did last year. We still had a great time catching up, fishing, bbqing, playing & a little bit of shopping squeezed in!!!
The kids had a great time just enjoying each others company.

Georgie & Ned building something.

Our last day - we were waiting for our flights home and the weather was perfect. Typical !!!

Movieworld

We went to Movieworld on the wettest coldest day but by lunch it had cleared and we had a great time.

Waiting for the parade to start

Batman came over to Ned just after I took this snap & got him to high five. He walked off shaking his hand as if Ned had really hurt him & Ned's face was priceless!!!

Jar & Ned on the rollercoaster and you can just see Georgie behind them.

Another ride......

Out in the wild wild west !!

Do you want fries with that????

Jar has been working at Macca's for about a month now and she is loving it - especially the pay!!! These photos were taken after a long 8 hour shift..............

Friday the 13th

Ned's school had a Friday the 13th disco & all week we asked him if he wanted to go and he didn't. Of course on the friday afternoon he decided he did!! Off to Kmart for this great skeleton costume and he was all set. We were at the disco for about 20mins then we had to go cause Ned was too scared of the costumes the other kids were wearing!! I must say some of them had horrible rubber masks and it was dark with a smoke machine so quite spooky!!!
Ned & his two best mates who turned up in the same costumes - we obviously shop at the same place!!!

Not Happy Jan !!!

I have had so much to blog about & when I went to download my pics they were gone - bloody card error - so I have lost some great photos.......

Any hoo the most important (& saddest loss) was Jo's 40th birthday. We had a dinner at our place with lot's of decorations, helium balloons, champagne and a knock out feast. I also did a montage of her life in photos on our wall which looked awesome (pity I don't have a photo !!!). The next day was all about the girls with a "sex in the city" theme, started with coffee then off to see the sex in the city movie followed by dinner and cosmo's and then off to the rogue traders concert.

We have had a bit more than that happen but it doesn't seem to exciting without photo's!!!

Brace Yourself

Jar's braces are off - finally!!! She was meant to get them off a while back but unfortunately our orthodontist had a gardening accident and seriously damaged his hand. She looks absolutely awesome and she is really happy.

This photo was taken just before we started the whole process - lookin' a little toothy!

With her braces on

The end result.....

School Breakup

At the end of last term we were invited for a little celebration down on the beach to celebrate the first term of school successfully finished (well that's what I was celebrating)!! Well I turned up with a water bottle, an old apple & a squished museli bar for Neds snacks and then all the gals turned up with nibblies, dips and champagne flowing - can't wait to see what they do for the end of year!!!!

Anzac Parade

Ned was so excited about the Anzac Day parade and was counting down the sleeps until it was the big day. He wore Al's Uncle Sandy's war medals and was so proud - unfortunately he was the only one from his class that turned up and he wasnt' keen on marching with the bigger kids so we walked along the edge of the parade!!!

He really wanted me to take this photo of him saluting for Grandpa Bill !!

Term 1 results.

Ned has done so well at school in the first term. He has won 3 gold cards, a student of the week certificate & got the "best of the bunch" award for excellent behaviour in Term 1!! When he gets a gold card he has to go to the principals office to choose a pencil and the first time he got it he said "you should see how many pencils Mrs Ollett has - probably about 10,000 or 6"!!!

Jar got really great results too for first term, passed all the important subjects but failed miserably at sport - I think she gets that from me!!!!!

Earth Hour

Ned really wanted to do Earth Hour after talking about it at school but he fell asleep just as we were lighting the candle - Al, Jar & I did it anyway & took the photos to prove it!!

The great fence of Slade Point.

Look what we achieved in a day & a half. We only had brush fencing up when we bought the house but the wind we have had lately has shredded it and most has fallen off so we decided to try our hands at fencing.
What it looked like before starting.

Our first 'section'
Ned helping Daddy - he really was a great help all day. He passed palings, put the spacer in down the bottom & fetched things we needed.

Me doing my bit.

Even Jedda helped out !!!

Jar & Ned hammering away - our poor neighbours!!

All the side of the house done and starting into the back yard - we got about another 6 metres done more than shown in photo but my camera was dropped & now doesn't work. Not very happy about that - will get it fixed under insurance but it takes forever - am hoping they offer me a new one instead.
