Art Roll

I've been at it again, this time trying out a pencil roll that I'm thinking would make good Xmas gifts. This one is for Ned and I have made it so he can have a pencil and texta in each slot with room for a lead pencil, sharpener and eraser in the end pocket.
All rolled up....

Feelin' crafty

We've been a little crafty round here lateley.............................

Ned doing wet felting.
String balloons.
And quite a bit of sewing. Surprised? I am, sewing has never interested me but due to the fact that beautiful fabric is a bit like scrapbooking paper and becomes quite addictive I thought I had better do something with the stuff I had bought!!! It also doesn't help when you have a friend (Caro) who regularly sends through links to buy beautiful fabric just to add to the temptation !!!
I made a curtain to hide Ned's aircon and an ugly window view and added a couple of trees and a birdie - too cute !

And then this pile of lovlieness arrived from the US of A and it looked too nice to cut up so I stared at it for awhile and then started work on............
this !!!!
A beautiful throw for snuggling up on the couch over these cooler months. I am really proud cause all the squares lined up, which should probably be easy for most but I struggled and the backing was a nightmare but after a few calls to Caro I got it on.
The backing is a really soft brown polar fleece but for some reason in the photos it looks like horrible scratchy terry towelling !!

It's doing it's job !

Take a Kid Fishing Day 2

We went to TAKFD again this year and again another fantastic day. Perfect weather, about 200 kids and some good fish caught. Dad's group Sunfish run these days and everyone gets a rod and bait, lunch and a showbag at the end as well as heaps of prizes. Its a great day that is completley free. Thanks Pop and the Sunfish guys (and gals)!!!

Roll up, Roll up.............

We went to see the Great Moscow Circus while it was in Mackay and it was fantastic. No animal acts (or we wouldn't have been there cause they are mean !!!), more like cirque du soleil with acrobats, contortionists, really good clowns, magic, women hanging from lengths of fabric and doing tricks and all sorts of other dangerous feats !!! It was really hard to take photos but I got a few before I gave up and enjoyed the show.......

Opening act....
The ringmaster - hilarious....

These Brazillian guys on this spinning thing were unbelievable. We were holding our breaths when they just free fall and land running back on the rings.
This was the grand finale, the dome of doom (it's not actually called that but I think it builds it up a bit!!) In the end the were 5 motorbikes going around - it was scary.
Caro & Jane - it could be heading your way, theres a website if you want to check it out.

Easter

We had a great Easter - didn't do anything, just got lots of jobs done around the house, finished our fencing and some gardening. Unfortunately we had to do all of it in the rain - it just hasn't stopped here and we are getting a bit over it now but then I remember how hot it will be once it does stop !!
The photos below are from Ned's Easter parade and I didn't get many good photos. The pic below should explain that !!! This kids hat was ridiculous - you can just seen Ned peeking around the side of it !!
Jar decorated Neds hat this year and did an awesome job of it - we're packing it away for next year !
We have been doing a fair bit of craft round here, wet felting, dry felting, string balloons and this Easter Tree. We (me!) blew out eggs and decorated them - it's beautiful and glittery and doesn't show up very well in the photo.
We even made some Easter baskets to fill with egg for gifts. It creativity central round here at the moment - I am trying to keep Ned entertained with anything but the Wii !! I wish we never bought the bloody thing and it was my idea !!

35

My 35th birthday - look at the cake Mum made me. Three different layers and flavours !!!!

Jarrah's Happenings

Jar's school made this peace sign for Harmony Day and was on the news - I won't even bother to try and point her out !!!
We have alot of this happening at our place - gatherings around the computer !!!

School's Back

Jarrah and Ned on their first day back to school.
Jarrah starting Year 10 and Ned starting Year 1.

KI (or Kangaroo Island for those not in the know !!!)

On the ferry to Al's beloved KI !! We met up, loaded the vehicles and over we went. There was lot's of catching up to do when we were on the boat..........
We had such a great trip with Kel, Stu and the kids, as usual within minutes it's like we have never been apart!! Good people and good times means we are going to make it a regular catchup - can't wait for 2010 !!!

The boys with thier catch

Fishing in all conditions - I have to admit that Kelli and I were sitting in a nice warm dry car when I took this photo !!!

Al, Jarrah & Ned at Remarkable Rocks

This was a bit scary, watching the ferry come in and it comes so close you can touch it before it turns and reverses into place.

Jarrah, Ned, James and Chloe on the stair case to Davey Jones's locker !!

Gotta take advantage of having us all together and getting a few posed group shots in! I was buggered from running back and forth setting up the timer !!

Al, Jac, Kel & Stu

A nice one of Kel and Stu
Me & Kel
Stronach Mob
Probably only freaks me out but c'mon - 8.14pm and still daylight !!!

Jar and Al

Our 105 year old cottage - I love old buildings but after a couple of spookish nights I won't be booking one this old again.
