Conversation with Ned III

Ned cried a little this morning when I took him to school but was happy when I picked him up. While we were waiting in the car for Jar to come out I was talking about what was upsetting him & why he cried and he said "how can I stop crying when my heart won't stay still, when I think about you I can feel it go ba bump ba bump" Oh this boy melts my heart.....

Vacant between 9 & 3.

Bit sad looking in the back seat & my little guy wasn't there!

The big day.

Well today was the big day, Ned woke up super excited about his first day, got dressed & was ready to go by 7.10am!! He settled in well but did get a bit of a wobbly chin when it was time to say bye. I did one final look in as I was leaving & he gave me the saddest little wave goodbye - awwww heartbreaking!!! I went straight to Gloria Jeans to meet up with some gal friends who were prep mums as well (and Gayna who was there for support!!!) It was all smiles when I picked him up & he had a really good day. Jarrah enjoyed her first day back - she loves the social side of school!!

Jar's super cool shoes - embrodiered sides with diamonte toes - very bling!!!

He is too absolutely small for school.

This is a layout I did of Ned in his school uniform based on his favourite Charlie & Lola book called 'i am too absolutely small for school'. Very cute!

On the school holidays we..........

Art Journal Challenge

I have been trying to maintain two blogs - our family one and my art one but it is just getting too hard so I will be adding a few of my 'projects' here from now on for those of you who are interested (for those that aren't you will just have to scroll past them!!!) The other site will be closed down so don't bother going there anymore.
Last year I took part in an international online challenge where we did a deck of cards with a word prompt every week. It was great - 52 cards for 52 weeks. This year it's an art journal still using the one word prompt idea, so I have made my book & the first prompt was commit.

I'm not used to leaving this much 'white space', my usual style is to cram as much on as possible but I am trying new things for this journal...................

Camping - our way.

We went camping at Cape Hillsborough National Park again to celebrate Al's 38th birthday. It's our favourite spot, we can camp right on the beach & feel like we are in the middle of nowhere but we also have access to the fantastic pool they put in, can have a massage in the 'therapy hut' & even wander up for a cuppachino!!! It's the best of both worlds.

Al trying to work out the pole situation!!
One of our many nightly games of Uno!
Snug as bugs in a rug.
One of the many bushwalks
At the lookout....
A view from the top - our tent is in that treeline along the cove.
Another lookout - not a great day for photos, very overcast, but good weather for walking.
A beautiful photo of Jarrah
Our hangout
Poolside
A bit of beach T Ball
& some footy!
Doing the marshmallow thing
Ned's favorite game - playing Steve Irwin with all his critters.
Ned & a couple of mates.
Packed up & ready to go home.......
15 mins later!!!

We had a lovely bunch of coconuts.......

We haven't been able to do anything with our front garden as we have these two fully loaded coconut trees right in the middle of it. Al has been telling me that it's fine to go in & weed, "coconuts only fall when they are brown" & within a couple of days of saying that he was out the front with Ned and a whole bunch came down and starting bouncing towards them!! He had to grab Ned & run so I'm bloody glad I ignored his horticultural advice!!! Anyway the neighbours across the road were getting there nuts removed so we hit the man up & ours are gone too!!!

January Birthdays

Happy happy day to......

3rd Grandma Margaret

New Year No Photo's!!!

We had a great New Year Eve - first time in years that we have actually seen it in. We went down to the beach in front of our place for a bonfire party & met some really nice local people, had a few drinks & celebrated the end of 2007 & the beginning of 2008. Unfortunately I took my camera but forgot to put the memory card into it so no piccy's of the night!

Bubblicious!

Jar & Ned having a bit of fun with the mega bubble blower that they got for Xmas - it's been way to windy here until today to use it.

Schoolie

We went and got Ned's school uniform the other day & he looks just so little!! I nearly cried seeing him all dressed up ready for school.

Xmas Fun.

A great couple of days full of the usual Xmas fun - eating, drinking, playing & lots and lots of laughs. .....
Twas the night before Christmas & all through the house everyone was just hanging out relaxing & waiting for the big day.
Woken at 5.45am by Ned yelling out "It's Twistmas"!!! We are all looking a bit dazed & sleepy and I was very slack at taking photo's of the kids opening presents but Jo got some good ones!
Classic photo of Jarrah getting what she has thought for months was going to be a digital camera but was actually a mobile phone - the LG Chocolate - that she has been dreaming about!!
Got ya Binksy!!!!

A canvas I made Jar to match her new doona set she got - you can sort of make out the doona in the background.

I am such a lucky duck! Al surprised the hell out of me with this Pandora ring (above), & a 'queen bee' charm for my Pandora bracelet! These photos are mainly for Nic cause we are crazy for Pandora!! He also got me a sewing machine that I have wanted for a while - I must have done something good this year!!!

Our feast with heaps of prawns, mangos & fresh sea scallops - YUM!!!

The end of a long day - we finished up playing Jar's new boardgame, drinking Baileys on ice & eating fruitcake!! Can't wait to do it all again next year ( in Adelaide!!).
