Handmade Jedi cloak that Ned got for Xmas - he loves anything Star Wars!!!

Day 63 (25.12.09)

Our guys with their fave presents - Lego & Ipod!!

Ned stunned with this Lego set - he never thought he would get this one ($$$)!!

We displayed our cards a little differently this year - it's a tree in case you can't tell!

Our beautiful lunch, crabs, oysters, prawns, smoked salmon - we did take a moment to appreciate how lucky we are to be able to sit down with our loves to a lunch like this.

Day 61 (23.12.09)

Tonight we went on our Christmas lights drive straight to this house just up the road from us!!!
He starts hanging his lights in September!!!

Under the house is a Christmas wonderland!!

Down the side of the house...

And, drum roll please, Jar and her boyfriend Lachie!  She was feeling the Christmas spirit and let me get a couple of snaps!  Lachie and Jar have been going out for about 8 months and couldn't be happier!  We couldn't be happier because Lachie is a really nice guy and we all really enjoy having him around!!

Ned getting in on the action (I think he likes Lachie more than Jar!!)

"Muuuummm stop taking our photo"!!!

Day 60 (22.12.09)

Day 58 (20.12.09)

It's looking a bit stormy out tonight, hopefully it will build up to something big or at least drop some rain.
We really miss the huge wet season electrical storms we used to get in the NT.

Day 57 (19.12.09)

We hit the markets this morning - something that I have not done for a while but this smoothie business is getting expensive when you shop at Woolies!!  It's a little cheaper but the quality is heaps better and there are a few organic stalls now.  We also picked up a packet of frozen home made spring rolls and they were awesome!!!

Day 56 (18.12.09)

This HAD to happen today - and it did! Phew!!

Day 55 (17.12.09)

Today was all about getting some gifts made.

Day 54 (16.12.09)

I came home to the best surprise today, a big fat parcel that said "this is not a Christmas present" but it was a present!!  Three beautiful handmade goodies, one of Caro's awesome paper bird creations, a super cute bird badge and some of my favourite soy wax melts in 'fresh coffee' - Yum!
Thank you so much Caro - it made Xmas come a little early for me!!!
**If you want to grab some funky handmade gifts click on here to go straight to her shop.

Day 53 (15.12.09)

We started our 'green smoothie' drinking this morning and yes it does look feral but tastes yum!! It's a frozen fruit smoothie (banana, orange, pineapple, berries) with HEAPS of baby spinach in it.  Today was definately a bit thick but no taste of spinach at all!!  I'm hoping for some major iron level increase, Jar just likes anything healthy and, drum roll, Al is drinking it too!!!!  Al and I don't (can't) eat brekkie and this definately makes you feel like you have.  Anyway you can read about the 'Green Smoothie Revolution' here and we will see what it does for us :)

Day 52 (14.12.09)

Rain - haven't had any in ages and we got a quick down pour this morning and it stopped.  We actually stood out the front and watched it rain in our neighbours yard for about 15 seconds before it started at our place.

Day 51 (13.12.09)

The Third light of Advent is the light of beasts,
All await the birth from the greatest and the least.
Advent - Week 3

Day 50 (12.12.09)

al, me, sue and col
We have been spoiled for old friends this week and had the Meighan's visit.  It was so good to see them, catch up and meet 'little' Tom for the first time.  The above photo is actually from the next morning when we were all feeling pretty ordinary after chucking an all nighter!!

Tom and Ned - I can see the start of a good friendship here!!  Tom was born one day after Ned but two years later!! I think Tom is on the tall side and Ned is definately on the small side but they make a really cute pair!!

The whole gang - Jar, Tom, Ned, Bec and Kaleigh.  We couldn't believe how much the girls have grown and changed (Bec) but they are still as sweet as ever!!
Thanks for visiting Meighan Mob - can't wait to see you again soon!

Day 49 (11.12.09)

The last day of Year 1 today and the last day of having Mrs Johnson - luckily he will get to see her around the school next year!!

Day 48 (10.12.09)

Al & I went late night shopping last night (our first time together!) and this is the majority of our Xmas shop.  I got a couple of things online and have made a few things but that's it.  We have downsized the present side of Xmas this year (don't worry we haven't downsized our 'poor' children too much!!) and we have upsized the tradition /celebration part.  It also makes for a whole month of fun :)

Day 47 (09.12.09)

Surprise visitor tonight - Brownie!!  It was a great surprise with lot's of catching up, reminiscing and a few 'cool drinks'!!  The photo is a bit fuzzy but so was the photographer!!!

Day 45 (07.12.09)

Ned and I followed this butterfly around for ages to get this shot.  We have had heaps of big brightly coloured ones around lately including the beautiful Majestic butterfly.

Day 40 (02.12.09)

Ned & Riley having what Ned called "a free day off"!!  Is it still wagging when your only in Year 1 and it's the second last week of school !!??

Day 39 (01.12.09)

The first light of Advent is the light of stones.
Stones that live in crystals, seashells and bones.
Advent - Week 1, our celebration is based around Waldorf philosophies.

Day 38 (30.11.09)

No need for these today!  Jar has finished Year 10 and spent her first Monday morning having a well deserved sleep in!!

Day 37 (29.11.09)

Ned and Jar found this baby fig bird in our palm, we were a bit worried about him but his Mum was still hanging around and feeding him.  We found out that this is normal and he would have been pushed out of the nest to hang out in low branches for a couple of days before flying!!

Day 36 (28.11.09)

Sewing for the school completed - it was the one job I had to get done today!

Day 35 (27.11.09)

It is so hot today that we just came straight home and got in the pool.  Ned spent about half an hour just floating round relaxing.  I got the thing he's floating on at the thrift shop for $1 after Ali and I were looking at them in the toy shop for $36 !!!

Day 34 (26.11.09)

This place looks like a sweatshop with some mass calico bag making happening over the last couple of days.
(These are for Ned's class Christmas craft)

Day 33 (25.11.09)

We went out for dinner tonight to celebrate Mum and Dad's 42nd anniversary - a bit of an achievement these days!!

Tuesday, November 24, 2009

Day 32 (24.11.09)

We are taking part in the Yates Giant Pumpkin Challenge this year (after an unsuccessful attempt at the watermelon one last year) and this is our seedling at four days old.

Day 31 (23.11.09)

We love finding faces in places and this little (lamb) fat face greeted me this morning.
And no, I don't do all my dishes every night - only what I can cram into my dishwasher!!!

Day 30 (22.11.09)

I didn't achieve much today but I did make a bag - I wasn't expecting it to work out so well, and I didn't want to waste good fabric so it is made out of a tiny bit of new fabric and the rest of it including the lining is sheets and pillowcases!
